NEWTON, NC - (Sept. 1, 2016) The inaugural Foothills Folk Art Festival comes to Downtown Newton on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
More than 90 artists will join the festival as they offer their work for sale directly to the public. The festival will be held around the 1924 Courthouse Square.
Event highlights will include artist demonstrations, activities for children, food trucks, two beer gardens, and two stages with live musical performances. Admission and parking are free. Guests will park in designated areas and ride shuttle buses to and from the festival area.
The festival is presented thanks to a partnership between the Downtown Newton Development Association and Hickory Museum of Art and is hosted by the City of Newton.
As with many similar events, a large number of volunteers will be needed to make the festival a success. Volunteer shifts are two hours long, and everyone who volunteers gets a free festival T-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering, call Becky Webb at 828-446-6917 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
