NEWTON, NC (Sept. 14, 2016) – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department will soon begin offering youth and adult tennis lessons at Westside/Jaycee Park.
Youth lessons will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 20. Classes will be held twice a week for six weeks. Space is available for eight students per class on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Lessons for players 6-8 years old will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Lessons for players 9-12 years old will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Adult lessons will be held Wednesdays beginning September 21. Classes will be weekly for six weeks. Space is available for eight students per class on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Lessons for players 18 years old and older will be from 6-7 p.m.
Doug Eller, a tennis-teaching professional with more than 40 years of experience, will lead the tennis lessons. Eller played collegiate tennis at Pembroke University and is currently a state ranked player.
All lessons will be held at the tennis courts at Westside/Jaycee Park, which is located at 1020 Southwest Blvd., Newton.
