NEWTON, N.C. (June 16, 2016) – Members of the 2016 Newton Citizens Police Academy were honored during a recent graduation ceremony.

Academy participants spent six weeks learning about the services and operations of the Newton Police Department. Topics included support services, patrol duties, investigations, narcotics, animal control, code enforcement and firearms. Each session was led by a Newton officer.

Newton Police Chief Don Brown thanked the graduates for participating in the academy.

“Just by being here, you’ve helped open lines of communication and strengthened the bonds between Newton’s officers and the community,” Brown said.

Graduates of this year’s academy include Rosalyn Barker, Christopher LeFevers, Bruce Rockett, Tera Rockett and Patricia Spencer.
