NEWTON, NC (June 13, 2016) – Maybe you drive past it on the way to work. Perhaps it’s just down the street from where you live. It might even belong to you. We’re talking about the ugliest front yard in Newton, and the Newton Appearance Commission is going to fix it.
The Appearance Commission is now accepting entries for its Curb Appeal–Newton Style contest. The contest will transform one lucky Newton resident’s yard from an ugly duckling to the swan of lawns.
Do you know someone whose yard is overcome by weeds? Does your neighbor wish he or she could weed and mow but simply can’t keep up with the maintenance? Is your front yard becoming an eyesore while you lack the time or funds to fix it? If so, take a moment to enter the Curb Appeal–Newton Style contest and tell us why you or someone you know deserves a yard makeover.
Appearance Commission members will select a property based on the state of neglect, building or landscape care, ability of the owner to assist with the project, and the scope of the repair or clean-up. Properties must be located within Newton’s city limits.
Entry forms are available here. Entries are due by Aug. 1. Entries may be dropped off at City Hall or the Recreation Department, or emailed to email@example.com.
