NEWTON, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2015) – Newton welcomes Chris Little as the city’s new information systems director.
Little is a Catawba County native. He grew up in Claremont, attended Bunker Hill High School, and graduated from Catawba Valley Community College with an associate degree in information systems in 1999.
Little spent the past four years working in information systems at a furniture manufacturer in Morganton. Prior to that, he was a partner in a networking support company in Hickory.
“My family is from the Newton area, so coming back to Newton was appealing to me,” Little said. He noted that his great grandfather owned Cline’s Garage, which was in Downtown Newton across the street from the former Newton Fire Department Headquarters.
During his first days on the job, Little has been familiarizing himself with the city’s servers and software. His responsibilities include professional and technical work in the procurement, installation, configuration and maintenance of the city’s network systems, hardware and software. He also oversees the city’s telephone, radio and other communications systems.
“The city of Newton maintains a cutting-edge network, and Chris has the expertise to lead our Information Systems Department into the future,” Newton Assistant City Manager Sean Hovis said. “I expect Chris’ leadership will ensure the technology the city uses to serve its residents and businesses remains on the cutting edge.”
Little joined the city’s team on Jan. 1. He lives in Conover with his wife, Chana, and their sons Riley, 11, and Kale, 4.
