NEWTON, N.C. – Catawba County will hold a free Residential Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
Types of household waste accepted at the event include household cleaners, paint products, automotive products, pesticides, fertilizers, kerosene, batteries, pool chemicals and mercury thermometers.
Electronics accepted include computer monitors, televisions, VCRs, stereos, cell phones, pagers, calculators, fax machines and microwaves.
Plastic Bag Recycling will be provided by Keep Catawba County Beautiful in celebration of America Recycles Day. The first 200 people who bring plastic bags to recycle will receive a reusable bag.
The County contracts with electronics recycling companies that are EPA R2 and/or e-Steward certified to ensure proper handling and security of electronic waste collected.
