NEWTON, N.C. – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department and the Catawba County Council on Aging will offer Yoga for Seniors on Thursday mornings in September and October for participants 55 years old and older.
The classes will be held at the Newton Recreation Center at 23 South Brady Ave. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 10, Sept. 17, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29. There is no charge for the classes, but participants are asked to make a donation.
The classes will introduce basic postures and techniques used in yoga to relax the body and calm the mind. Instructor Marjorie Blubaugh is certified to teach yoga and has more than 20 years of experience practicing and teaching yoga. She will provide individual attention to physical limitations presented by each class member and will offer alternative movements to prevent any discomfort.
