NEWTON, N.C.
– The Newton Police Department and the Conover Police Department are combining forces to fight crime by offering citizens new ways to report illegal activity.

A new tip line hosted by the two departments allows anyone who suspects a crime to call or email Newton and Conover police officers directly. The phone number for the tip line is 828-668-COPS (828-668-2677). To email officers, send your tip to newtonconovertips@gmail.com.

Anyone who calls or emails the tip line may do so anonymously. People who wish to be contacted by an officer have the option of leaving their name and contact information so an officer can get in touch with them.

“We’re always looking for better ways to communicate with the people we serve,” said Newton Police Chief Don Brown. “Through this partnership, we’re providing Newton and Conover residents with a direct line of communication that they can use to help us keep our cities safe.”

“We encourage people to use the new tip line,” Conover Police Chief Steven Brewer said. “The Newton and Conover police departments share resources, and this is another tool that we can use to serve people who don’t want their names revealed.”

The Newton Police Department and the Conover Police Department thank the public for working with officers to help fight crime in our communities.
