Newton to host rabies vaccination clinic May 30

NEWTON, N.C. – The Newton Police Department will host a rabies vaccination clinic Saturday, May 30.

The drive-thru clinic runs from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Newton Police Department, 411 North Main Ave. In addition to one-year rabies vaccinations for $7 per animal, microchipping will also be available for $20 per animal.

Rabies is an infectious disease that affects the central nervous system in mammals. Vaccination of pets is one of the best ways to guard against rabies, according to the Humane Society.

Pet owners are asked to enter the Police Department parking lot from North College Avenue and exit onto North Main Avenue on the day of the clinic.

Newton police are partnering with Catawba County Animal Services and the Humane Society of Catawba County to host the clinic.
