Tax preparation and filing service opens in Newton: New business offers tax help, accounting services
NEWTON, N.C. – With tax season now upon us, Newton welcomed Liberty Tax Service to the city with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Liberty Tax Service employs about 10 people and offers preparation and filing of tax returns, Affordable Care Act enrollment assistance, and accounting services focusing on small businesses. The new franchise is located at The Market Place shopping center at 2725 Northwest Blvd., Suite H1, between Bi-Lo and Big Lots.
Husband-and-wife team Drew and Jacki Collins chose Newton as the location for their venture late last year. His work will focus on the accounting end of the business, while she will serve as Liberty Tax Service’s Affordable Care Act specialist.
“I enjoy being here in the small-town quiet and slower pace,” Drew Collins said.
He currently works for an accounting firm and looks forward to finishing the 2015 tax season before looking for a home near Newton and relocating his young family—the Collinses have a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.
“We’ve really enjoyed getting to know everybody in Newton,” Jacki Collins said. “Everybody has been so nice and friendly, and we’re really excited to be here.”
Liberty Tax Service was welcomed by Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman, as well representatives from Newton City Council, the Newton Business Advisory Committee, the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, and First Citizens Bank, during a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, January, 16.
To celebrate its grand opening, Liberty Tax Service is offering special discounts to filers this tax season, including $50 cash for people who bring in their tax returns by Feb. 15. For more information, call Liberty Tax Service at 828-348-0986.
