Christmas Gospel Fest is Dec. 20

NEWTON, N.C. – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with In My Father’s House for a Christmas Gospel Fest and Community Outreach. The festivities will be at Central Recreation Center, 301 South Ervin Ave., from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. The first 50 Catawba County families to arrive will receive toys, clothes and food.

Gospel performers and groups with talent to share must register by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. Entry forms are available at Central Recreation Center, as well the Newton Parks and Recreation Department, 23 South Brady Ave., and In My Father’s House, 19 East A St.

The Newton Parks and Recreation Department asks attendees to bring an item of canned or non-perishable food to the event. Donations will help the Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry provide food to families in need during the holidays.

Organizers hope an afternoon and evening of music and giving will demonstrate the true meaning of Christmas. For more information, call program coordinator Charles James at 828-695-4350 or center supervisor Linda McCorkle at 828-465-7477.
