The Spot hosts ribbon cutting ceremony

NEWTON, NC (July 25, 2014) – Newton has a new comic book and collectibles store catering to all ages. “The Spot” celebrated its opening on Friday, July 18 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Spot offers comics, toys, DVDs, books, games, posters, cards and more. The store has a large collection of Star Wars, G.I. Joe and Transformers memorabilia.

The Spot is co-owned by Dwight Byrd, Johnny Clontz, Alex Fulbright and Noel Fulbright.  The foursome operated the business in the Hickory area before moving to 609 West 20th St., Newton. City of Newton Mayor Anne Stedman, city officials, city committee members and Catawba County Chamber representatives were on hand to welcome The Spot to Newton. 

“I don’t believe there is another store in Newton like The Spot,” said Mayor Stedman.  “We are glad you chose Newton for your store location, and we wish you much success here”.

Gamers are welcome. Game tables and game boards are available.  Store hours are 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
