NEWTON, NC (May 13, 2014) – Keep your kids’ minds and bodies active this summer with swimming lessons at the Newton Rec Center swimming pool, 23 S. Brady Ave. Lessons are offered for youth from 6- to 12-years-old.
Students will learn the fundamentals of breathing techniques and swimming strokes. An American Red Cross Certified Swimming Course Instructor is providing instruction. The cost of the course is $40. The lessons will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. June 23-26. In case of rain on any of those days, the make-up class is scheduled on June 27.
The Newton Rec swimming pool opens June 14 for the season. Public swimming will be available Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with addition hours Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $1 for children ages 0-5, $2 for adults ages 62 and older, $3 for children ages 6-17, and $4 for adults ages 18-61.
