NEWTON, NC (April 9, 2014) – Earth Day is just around the corner, so work on brightening your corner of the world by joining the City of Newton for its annual Clean Up Event from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
Engage in this great opportunity for your club, team or community group to get together, clean up Newton and earn community service hours. The event is hosted in partnership with Keep Catawba County Beautiful and runs in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Litter Sweep Program.
Volunteers will be assigned to streets inside the Newton City Limits, but a group can volunteer to clean a specific street by request. The City will provide bags, gloves, t-shirts and safety vests for all volunteers. On the day of the event, volunteers must report to Southside Park to sign-in and pick up their supplies. A hot dog lunch will be provided at noon at Southside Park.
Register to participate by contacting Angie Harris-Ramseur at 828-695-4288 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Check out the flyer for this event here (PDF).
