Upper Room Family Care holds ribbon cutting

NEWTON, NC (March 11, 2014) – Upper Room Family Care, 105B N. Main Ave., held a ribbon cutting ceremony March 3 to celebrate the opening of the family practice medical office.

Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman stated, “I want to welcome you to Newton, and I wish you the best. The City is happy to welcome a family practice office that sees patients with and without insurance.”

Upper Room Family Care owner and Nurse Practitioner Gerri Morrison said the family practice office will see people of all ages with or without insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. The practice initially opened on Feb. 3 for patients without insurance.

Morrison said she was happy to return to the City of Newton to operate the medical office. Morrison previously worked at Unifour Family Health Care and Conover Family Practice.

“I really and truly believe the good lord laid this opportunity in my lap, and he has provided for me like you would not imagine,” Morrison said of opening her own practice.

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until noon Friday. The practice will soon offer an online patient portal, where patients can access their records and schedule appointments. For more information, call Upper Room Family Care at 828-465-6800.
