Free children's basketball skills clinic on Dec. 7

NEWTON, NC, (Nov. 25, 2013) - The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a free basketball skills clinic for players and coaches on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Newton Recreation Center, 23 S. Brady Ave.

Boys and girls are encouraged to participate as well as individuals coaching those from ages 4 to 12 years. Newton-Conover High School coaches and players will serve as instructors. The clinic will cover basic basketball fundamentals, skills, various drills, organization of practices and player development.

Mighty Mites (co-ed, ages 4 to 6 years old), Bantam (boys, ages 7 to 8 years old) and Bantam (girls, ages 7 to 9 years old) will meet from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Midget (boys, ages 9 to 10 years old), Midget (girls, ages 10 to 12 years old) and Little (boys, ages 11 to 12 years old) will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
