Tortilleria opens in Plaza Latina with ribbon cutting

NEWTON, NC (Sept. 12, 2013) – Enjoy freshly made corn tortillas for dinner by grabbing an order at Tortilleria el Ayate, 1901-K Northwest Blvd. The corn tortillas are made fresh daily and can reach your table still warm from the oven.

Tortilleria el Ayate celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday. Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman welcomed the tortilleria to Newton and wished the business success.

“We saw a need in the community for a tortilleria, so we decided to open up this business,” owners Marcos Garcia and Roberto Espinoza said. The two men are also hoping to provide their families with a brighter future by engaging in entrepreneurship.

Dalila Becerril, one of the store’s operators, said the tortilleria will offer a variety of corn tortillas, which are a staple in Mexican cuisine. The group chose to locate in Newton because Plaza Latina is a central shopping location for the Latino community.
