Newton Rec Center hosting AARP Driver Safety Program

NEWTON, NC (Sept. 6, 2013) – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department, the Catawba County Council on Aging and AARP are sponsoring the AARP Driving Safety Program Course from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Newton Recreation Center, 23 S. Brady Ave.

The AARP Driver Safety Program, the nation’s first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older, has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads. Course participants will learn how to tune up their driving skills, updated information about the rules of the road, about age-related physical changes and how to adjust for those changes, how to reduce traffic violations, how to avoid injuries and more. Participants may also get a discount on auto insurance.

Participants must have a current valid driver’s license to enroll. The cost for non-veterans is $12 per person for AARP members, which must be prepaid, and $14 per person for non-members. The pre-registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 11.
