Fire hydrant testing begins Aug. 28 in northwest quadrant

NEWTON, NC (Aug. 22, 2013) – The City of Newton Fire Department we will be conducting annual fire hydrant maintenance and testing beginning Wed., Aug. 28. The Fire Department will be concentrating on the fire hydrants in the northwest quadrant (north of A Street and west of Main Avenue) for the next several weeks.

Citizens residing in this area may experience a discoloration of their water, due to minerals inside the underground water lines being disturbed. If water discoloration is experienced, allowing water to run from any faucet for several minutes should eliminate any discoloring of the water.
