Movies in the Park extended one week

NEWTON, NC (July 11, 2013) – Movies in the Park will run for an additional week this summer and close the free summer movie series on July 19.

Movies in the Park, hosted by the Newton Festival and Events Committee, is a summer movie series offered on Fridays at Southside Park, 1775 Southwest Blvd. Movies and popcorn are free to attendees due to the generosity of local businesses and sponsors.

 

The series continues Friday with “Madagascar 3,” sponsored by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. Kelly’s Village Cleaners is sponsoring the popcorn.

 

On July 17, Movies in the Park will screen “Finding Faith,” sponsored by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and Catawba County United Way. The film features stories from Virginia law enforcement agencies regarding internet crimes and is geared toward teaching teens internet safety. The film is recommended for children 12 and older.

 

All movies begin at dusk. The movies are family friendly, and viewers should bring a lawn chair or a blanket for seating. Concessions will be available. No pets are allowed.
