NEWTON, NC (June 28, 2013) – The Newton Appearance Commission on June 27 recognized Bob Pratter of Farmington Hills Drive for his yard, honoring him with the July “Yard of the Month” award.
Pratter has transformed the yard in the five years since he’s moved in to the home. A sense of pride and duty spur him to maintain his yard.
“This is the gateway to the Farmington Hills neighborhood, and these are the first two houses people see when they turn into this neighborhood,” Pratter said of keeping up with the yard work.
Previously a farmer, Pratter said he’s had a lot to learn about plants for landscaping purposes. His yard is now filled with lilies, roses, creeping junipers and a variety of trees including a Blue Spruce.
The City of Newton expresses its congratulations to Bob Pratter for being selected for the July 2013 “Yard of the Month” award.
The Newton Appearance Commission is now accepting nominations for “Yard of the Month” through September. Selection is based on attractive, well-maintained landscaping and overall aesthetics. For more information, contact the Newton Recreation Department at (828) 695-4317.
