Learn and play at the Newton pool

NEWTON, NC (June 27, 2013) – There’s plenty to do at the Newton Recreation Center swimming pool, 23 S. Brady Ave. Cool off and celebrate the Fourth of July with us, or join us later in July for swimming lessons.

Independence Day Splash Blast

The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is planning an Independence Day Splash Blast at the recreation center swimming pool from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4. For the price of pool admission, area residents can visit the pool for a refreshing swim and join in pool games, karaoke, ice cream and fun activities for the entire family.

Swimming Lessons

The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring swimming lessons for youth ages 6-12 at the recreation center swimming pool. The lessons run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 29 through Thursday, August 1. Saturday, August 3 will serve as a rain date. The cost is $40. Students will learn the fundamentals of breathing techniques and swimming strokes. An American Red Cross Certified Swimming Course Instructor will be providing instruction for swim lessons.
