NEWTON, NC (May 23, 2013) – The Newton Appearance Commission on Thursday recognized Cindy Case of West 15th Street for her yard, honoring her with the June “Yard of the Month” award.
“I love plants. I think plants are the main reason we are here. They give us food, oxygen, everything,” Case said. “Plants are the smartest things on the planet because they make their own food, and they feed all of us.”
Case said it appears she has a green thumb, although she didn’t know about her natural talent. She moved to the home on West 15th Street two years ago and has transformed the front and back yards with the help of her friends, who donated plants.
The City of Newton expresses its congratulations to Cindy Case for being selected for the June 2013 “Yard of the Month” award.
The Newton Appearance Commission is now accepting nominations for “Yard of the Month” through September. Selection is based on attractive, well-maintained landscaping and overall aesthetics. For more information, contact the Newton Recreation Department at (828) 695-4317, or visit www.newtonnc.gov.
