Mayo's Baseball School offered in June

   NEWTON, NC (April 30, 2013) – The Newton Parks & Recreation Department and Dream Bat Company will offer a Fundamental Baseball Camp – Mayo’s Baseball School for Boys/Girls ages 6 to 14 years from June 18 to June 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Jacob Fork Park, 3730 W. NC 10.

This is the 16th year of the Fundamental Baseball Camp program and its first year in Newton. The camp emphasizes the fundamentals to all participants through lectures, discussions and skill stations. The school’s premise is that baseball instruction is fun. Children will properly develop and acquire baseball skills to improve their abilities.

The Dream Bat Company/Mayo Baseball School’s coaching staff has the background, training and ability to teach players how to correctly play the game to maximize their athletic abilities. All coaches have played at high levels including professional baseball.

The camp will cover advanced hitting techniques, fielding, pitching/catching, base running, competition/games, stationed skill work and stick ball. Participants should bring water and a small snack. Concessions will be available.

The early bird registration fee is $135 (includes personalized Dream Bat, t-shirt and swimming pool pass) and the deadline is May 29. Regular registration runs from May 30 to June 18 and the fee is $150 (no bat guaranteed). Participants must fill out an application form, available here.
