Newton PD, County Animal Services partner for successful rabies clinic
NEWTON, NC (August 2, 2012) – The Newton Police Department and Catawba County Animal Services held a successful rabies clinic on Saturday, July 28. A total of 99 animals, including 84 dogs and 15 cats, received the required rabies vaccination at the clinic.
Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman commented on the successful joint venture. “I am thrilled that our citizens took advantage of this event. By administering the vaccination to almost 100 animals, it shows that we’re working together as a community to ensure the safety of our animals and our people.”
Newton Chief of Police Don Brown said the turnout was almost double what was expected. “We had projected that we would have about 50 animals, so this clinic definitely exceeded our expectations. I would like to express my appreciation to Catawba County Animal Services for being such a great partner, and to everyone who helped make this clinic a success.”
Chief Brown said he is looking forward to a continued relationship with Catawba County Animal Services as they are working to plan additional rabies clinics and spay/neuter clinics.
