This marks the 27th consecutive year that the City of Newton has received the Certificate of Achievement, which is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Attainment of the award represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Finance Department for the City of Newton has also earned an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for its primary role in preparing the award-winning CAFR.
Serina Hinson, Finance Director, commented on earning the award. “We are proud of this honor as it recognizes that the City of Newton’s financial reporting is of the highest standards,” Mrs. Hinson stated. “I am thankful to my staff for their hard work, diligence, and integrity.”
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
