Newton, NCMPA1 offers lighting rebate for eligible commercial and industrial customers
NEWTON, NC (October 10, 2011) – The City of Newton has partnered with the North Carolina Municipal Power Agency #1 (NCMPA1) to offer a lighting rebate program for eligible City Commercial and Industrial electric customers.
The purpose of the lighting rebate program is to provide an incentive to the City’s Commercial and Industrial electric customers to purchase and install energy-efficient lighting. Total funding for 2011 is $80,000 for eligible projects completed between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. A new round of funding, which totals $220,000, will begin January 1, 2012.
Newton’s Commercial and Industrial electric customers may submit an application for the rebate if they meet the set terms and conditions of the program. This program is for retrofit projects only; new construction projects are not eligible. Also, the applicants must have a minimum of 1,800 lighting hours per year. The rebate will be calculated at $0.35 per watt reduced, with a maximum rebate of $25,000 per customer.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis, and will be reviewed by NCMPA1 staff. Following the application process, the City and NCMPA1 will conduct a pre-retrofit site visit to document the customer’s existing lighting system and a post-retrofit inspection to inspect the final job. Upon approval from NCMPA1, the customer would receive the appropriate credit on its retail electric bill.
