Public Works Equipment Rodeo
NEWTON, NC (April 1, 2019)—The Newton Public Works and Utilities Department will show off their skills to the public during the Public Works Equipment Rodeo on Wednesday, May 22.
The special event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Southside Park, 1775 Southwest Blvd. Attendance is free and the public is invited. Food trucks will be on hand offering lunch for purchase.
During the rodeo, Public Works employees will exhibit the skills they use every day to build Newton’s brilliant legacy into a bright future. Public Works is responsible for maintaining infrastructure throughout the city, and this is a chance for the public to get a behind-the-scenes look at what the men and women of the department do to keep the city running.
Attendees will get up close and personal with a variety of large trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment. Interactive stations will demonstrate how all the crews within the different Public Works divisions work as a team to keep the lights on, keep the water flowing, and keep our city clean and running smoothly.
“It takes a team of dedicated city employees to provide the top-notch service residents and visitors have come to expect in Newton,” Public Works and Utilities Director Dusty Wentz said. “Our crews care about what they do, and this is a great chance for the people we serve to learn more about the inner workings of the Public Works and Utilities Department.”
