The Loft 'n' Downtown Newton Ribbon Cutting
NEWTON, NC (Aug. 30, 2018)—Newton welcomed The Loft ‘n’ Downtown Newton to the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Aug. 24.
The new shop is located at 107 North College Ave. in Downtown Newton, across the street from Geppeto’s Pizza and above Picket Fence Antiques & More.
Owner Billie Wilkinson, a Newton native, said she’s had other businesses through the years, but she’s always wanted to open a unique shop in Downtown Newton.
“I wanted a loft, and when I saw this space, I had to have it,” Wilkinson said.
The Loft ‘n’ Downtown Newton offers shabby chic furniture, clothing, consignment, jewelry, home décor, and pet supplies. Wilkinson’s loveable Staffordshire terrier and pit bull mix, Damon, greets customers with a wagging tail when they enter the shop.
In addition to the retail part of the shop, Wilkinson said she is excited to offer children’s tea parties and a private party space for adults.
“I’m delighted to see this creative use of a second floor space in Downtown Newton,” Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman said. “We’re here to support you and we wish you all the best.”
Additional photos from the ribbon cutting are available on the city's Facebook page.
The Loft ‘n’ Downtown Newton is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Hours will be extended during the holiday season, and free giftwrapping will be offered. For more information, call 828-461-3353 or visit Facebook and search “The Loft ‘n’ Downtown Newton.”
