Kids in Parks

NEWTON, NC (Nov. 7, 2017)—The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Kids in Parks event on the Heritage Trail Greenway.

The fun will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Heritage Trail Greenway trailhead on N.C. 10 West beside Newton Farm Supply. Children and parents will have the opportunity to take a guided walk on the trail and learn more about the Kids in Parks program. The event is free and open to the public.

Kids in Parks is an expanding network of family-friendly outdoor adventures called TRACK Trails. Each TRACK Trail features self-guided brochures and signs that turn your visit into a fun and exciting outdoor experience. You can track your adventures in your own online nature journal at and see how many trails you’ve visited, how many miles you’ve hiked, and win prizes.

The Kids in Parks program began in 2008 with a vision to get children outside and physically active in parks. The goal is to improve the health of children and the health of our parks.
