Electronic payment option now available for Newton utility customers
NEWTON, NC (Sept. 12, 2011) – The City of Newton is now accepting electronic payments for utility bills via the Internet or telephone by utilizing the services of NCO Financial, Inc. Electronic payments will not be available for face-to-face transactions at City Hall.
NCO Financial will charge customers a $3.60 service convenience fee for ePayments made using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, debit cards, or electronic checks. The fee will be passed on to the customer at the time of the transaction.
To make a utility payment online, visit www.newtonnc.gov and click on “How Do I Pay My Utility Bill?” or simply CLICK HERE. Then click on “Make a Payment” and the user will be directed to NCO’s secure website. To proceed, just enter the account number and agree to the terms and conditions. For those who wish to make an electronic payment via telephone, simply call toll-free 1-866-335-6150.
The new electronic payment options are a secure, environmentally friendly way for customers to pay their bills and avoid late fees. Of course, customers will still have the current option of paying by cash, check, or money order via standard mail, in person at Newton City Hall, or at the drop box.
