CVCC Classes at Recreation Center
NEWTON, NC (Aug. 24, 2017)— The Newton Parks and Recreation Department and Catawba Valley Community College are proud to present a variety of classes this fall which are sure to interest you or someone you know.

Quilting: Back to the Basics
You decide what size quilt and what pattern you would like to make. You will start with the basics and go from there. This class is designed for beginner to intermediate students. The class will be 9 a.m.-noon on Mondays from Sept. 11-Oct. 30. The fee for the class is $45 per person. The instructor for the class is Mary Ann Parkhurst.
Stained Glass – Level I
Learn the fundamentals of stained glass design in a fun and entertaining six-week class. You will learn how to choose the correct glass, create patterns, cut and grind glass, and complete two projects. A supply list is available the first night of class. The approximate cost of supplies $75. The class will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 11-Oct. 30. The fee for the class is $60 per person. The instructor for the class is Melanie Zimmerman.
This course instructs needle crafters of all skills levels. Variety is the spice of life in this class as participants choose which needle they want to use. It could be a knitting needle, an embroidery needle, or even a crochet hook. The class will be 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesdays from Sept. 12-Oct. 31. The fee for the class is $45. The instructor for the class is Mary Ann Parkhurst.
Come learn some popular line dances while getting a great cardio workout. You’ll learn dance steps to pop songs, jazz songs, and country songs. The class will be 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Thursdays from Sept. 21-Oct. 26. The fee for the class is $55 per person; no waivers will be offered. The instructor for the class is Kristi Marlow.
