Goodwill Retail Store Ribbon Cutting
NEWTON, NC (July 20, 2017)—The city of Newton joined the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce in welcoming a new Goodwill Retail Store to the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 20.
The Goodwill Retail Store is located at 825 U.S. 70. The store is next to the Goodwill Outlet Store and Career Connections Center in the Catawba Village Shopping Plaza.
The store is Goodwill’s third retail store in Catawba County and has created 15 new jobs. Goodwill strives to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by helping people reach their full potential through education, skills training, and the power of work. In 2016, Goodwill helped more than 313,000 people train for careers in various industries.
“The services Goodwill provides are wonderful for those in need, and it’s also wonderful for those looking for a bargain,” Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman. “We are privileged to have this force for good in our community and look forward to working with Goodwill for years to come.”
Lindsay Keisler, President and CEO of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, stressed that every cent of the money raised by Goodwill goes toward putting people back to work and lifting people out of poverty.
“Business is the best social program that has ever been created, because in the last 20 years, it has lifted 1 billion people out of poverty,” Keisler said.
