Picket Fence Antiques & More Ribbon Cutting
NEWTON, NC (July 13, 2017)—Newton welcomed Picket Fence Antiques & More to the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 13. The new shop is located at 107 North College Ave. in Downtown Newton.
Picket Fence Antiques & More is a retail mall offering antiques, arts and crafts, rustic decor, and upcycled items. The store features items from 18 vendors.
Owner Julie Gibson said opening a store like Picket Fence has been a dream of hers for a long time. When her brother purchased a building in Downtown Newton as an investment property and offered her the ground level space, she decided the time was right for her to open a shop of her own.
“It seems like the downtown association and the city are working really hard to bring new businesses downtown, and we really appreciate that,” Gibson said. “I’ve always been a picker and a collector. I’ve had booths in various places, but I’ve always wanted my own shop.”
“This is a great store,” Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman said during the ribbon cutting. “We’re here to welcome you and support you.”
Photos from the ribbon cutting ceremony are available on the city of Newton’s Facebook page.
Picket Fence offers vendors booth spaces and shelves of various sizes at reasonable monthly rates. The shop is a member of AntiqueTrail.com, an online antique store directory of nearly 1,400 antique and vintage shops, malls, and shows across the country.
Picket Fence Antiques & More is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.
