Newton to Offer Tennis Lessons

NEWTON, NC (June 16, 2017) – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department will soon begin offering youth and adult tennis lessons at Westside/Jaycee Park.

Beginner youth lessons will be held Thursdays from June 29 through July 27. Space is available for eight students per class on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Lessons for players 6-8 years old will be from 9-9:45 a.m. Lessons for players 9-12 years old will be from 10-11 a.m.

Beginner adult lessons will be held Tuesdays from June 27 through July 25. Space is available for eight students per class on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Lessons for players 18 years old and older will be from 6-7:30 p.m.

Intermediate adult lessons will be held Mondays from June 26-July 24. Space is available for eight students on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $30 per person. Lessons for players 18 years old and older will be from 6-7:30 p.m.

Doug Eller, a tennis-teaching professional with more than 40 years of experience, will lead the tennis lessons. Eller played collegiate tennis at Pembroke University and is currently a state ranked player.

All lessons will be held at the tennis courts at Westside/Jaycee Park, which is located at 1020 Southwest Blvd., Newton.
