Crazy Boba Ribbon Cutting
NEWTON, N.C. (March 7, 2017)—The city of Newton joined the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce in welcoming Crazy Boba bubble tea shop to the city during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 7.
Crazy Boba is located at 2455 Northwest Blvd., Suite B, Newton. Husband and wife team Tim Sering and Donna Nguyen, who operate Saigon Garden Vietnamese Restaurant in Conover and Newton Laundromat next door to the shop, opened the new business.
Bubble tea is a Vietnamese milk-based tea flavored with spices or fruit. “Boba” refers to chewy tapioca pearls that are added to the drink. Crazy Boba features more than two dozen flavors of bubble tea. The shop also offers Vietnamese coffees.
“We are so excited to welcome Crazy Boba,” said Ryan Sanford, Catawba County Chamber of Commerce director of investor and shareholder development. “We are so thankful for our partnership with Donna and Tim.”
Newton Mayor Anne P. Stedman also welcomed Crazy Boba to Newton.
“I hope you’re very successful here. This is great,” she said with a smile, taking a sip of bubble tea.
Sering said he and his wife decided to open Crazy Boba because the drink is so popular at their restaurant, and there are no shops dedicated to serving bubble tea in the area.
“I’m happy to open another business,” Nguyen said. “Thank you to everyone here who supported me.”
Crazy Boba is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. every day. For more information, call 980-858-4477.
