Tournament is held on
a Saturday in January for boys and girls 6 - 14 years
old. Contest is held at Newton Recreation Center. Open
to anyone in this age group.

· Men's Industrial Basketball League
League registration is
held the month of September, with games tentatively
scheduled to begin in October. All games are played at
Central Recreation Center. Entry fee is $400.00 per team
and a $20.00 non-resident fee will be charged. Games are
played on Tuesday and Thursday.

· Church Co-ed League
Any church in the area
can participate in this league. Players must be 15 years
and older. Limit to 10 players with four females and six
males per team. All games played on Saturdays, starting
at 10:00 a.m. at Central Recreation Center. Entry fee is
$50.00 per team and each team will be responsible for
paying officials. League begins in September - November.

sectional competition. Local competition is held during
the month of September and sectional in October -

Other
Information
· Issuing Uniforms
· All youth sports
uniforms are issued at the Recreation Center. Adult
teams are responsible for their own uniforms.
· Youth Coaches Certification
· The Newton Parks and
Recreation Department has adopted and required the
National Youth Sports and Coaches Association (NYSCA)
Certification Program for all coaches interested in
coaching in the Department's Youth Sports Program. All
coaches are screened for background checks.
· The NYSCA Program consists of: 4-hour videotape
program designed to provide formal training
opportunities for volunteer coaches who are coaching in
an organized youth sports program. The tapes provide
information on first-aid and prevention of injury,
understanding the psychological/physiological aspects of
coaching youth, how to organize meaningful practices and
the teaching of proper skills for particular sports.
· Cost of certification is $20.00.
