Never put anything down a storm drain. They lead to our water supply.

Don’t litter. This means that you should never throw any trash (like cups, paper, tissues and candy wrappers) on the ground. Ask your family no to litter too. When it rains the litter washes down the storm drains.

Be water wise. While it may be fun to run through the sprinklers on a hot summer day, don’t leave them running when you find something else to do outside. Make sure the water is completely turned off when you decide to play something else. Running water carries pollutants that may enter a storm drain.

Reduse. Reuse. Recycle. Anytime you use something over and over again you are saving our resources by reducing the need for new stuff. You also help keep our earth green by decreasing the amount of garbage we produce on a daily basis. Try making something new out of something you might otherwise throw away. For example use an empty glass jar to store small items like buttons, coins, or candy.
