The Human Resource Department is responsible for a wide
variety of functions in support of management and employees, including
recruitment and selection, employee orientation, classification and
pay, personnel policy development and administration, fringe benefits,
development, employee health assistance, wellness programs, and the
City's safety program.
Key Departmental Objectives
-
Implement and educate employees on payroll and
benefit changes.

Implement wellness programs as determined by the
committee or management to create a positive impact on workers'
comp, employee health, and morale.

Enhance employees safety program through
computerization, improved orientation of new employees, and
compliance with voluntary OSHA and insurance recommendations.

Evaluate current recruitment policies,
specifically regarding sick leave transfers and public safety
application process.

Coordinate training to meet goals and objectives
of City, such as 2nd level management, diversity training, foreign
language, etc.

Review and correct our processes of record keeping
in accordance with the governing North Carolina record retention.
