Major Kevin L. Yarborough, a twenty-two year veteran of the Newton Police Department is responsible for the operations of the Police Department. Major Yarborough assumed his current duties July 2011. Previously Major Yarborough served in the rank of Captain as Patrol Division Commander responsible for all patrol operations. Major Yarborough has served as Lieutenant of "A" platoon, Police Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant and as Patrol Officer. Major Yarborough brings prior experience from the Lincolnton Police Department as well as the Gaston County Police Department. Major Yarborough and his wife Rebecca have three adult children and live in the Startown community of Newton.
