The City of Newton’s Planning and Zoning Department provides assistance and direction to citizens, property owners, business, and elected/appointed officials regarding the development and use of land. The department works to guide efficient growth and development, administer development regulations and plan for transportation improvements within the City’s planning jurisdiction. The creation of long-range plans and policies serve as tools for shaping Newton‘s future.
The Planning Department’s Staff is responsible for enforcing and administrating the City’s Zoning Ordinance, Minimum Housing Code, and Subdivision Ordinances; transportation planning; and E-911 addressing.
