The City of Newton Fire Department is continuously seeking individuals with a desire and dedication to serve their community. Reserve firefighters with the Newton Fire Department are considered part-time employees. Reserves are paid per hour for incidents and training, and are provided with a variety of other benefits. Each new reserve is expected to complete NC Firefighter I state certification within 30 months from the date of employment and maintain 65 hours a year of firefighter training. Each new reserve, once being hired, will be enrolled into the North Carolina State Fireman's Association.

If you would like to be informed of future opportunities with the Newton Fire Department, you can come by the Human Resources Department located at City Hall and complete a Job Interest Card. By completing the Job Interest Card, you will be informed of any openings with the Fire Department available for a period of one year.
