Disconnection of Service

To disconnect City services, you must complete the Disconnection of Service form. The completed and signed form can be:

  • Delivered in person to the Customer Service Department, Cashier or Receptionist at City Hall, 401 North Main Ave.
  • Faxed to the City of Newton at (828) 465-7419.
  • Mailed to the City of Newton, P.O. Box 550, Newton, NC 28658.
  • Emailed to customerservice@newtonnc.gov (make sure the Disconnection of Service form is signed).
The completed and signed disconnection form is required to prevent you from being held responsible for the account. Services will not be removed from your name or responsibility until the City receives the completed and signed Disconnection of Service form.

For the Disconnection of Service form to be accepted, it must include a forwarding address and telephone contact information.

For same-day disconnection, the form must be submitted to Customer Service by 12 noon. If the form is received after 12 noon, disconnection will take place the next business day.

A final bill for the disconnected account will be mailed to the forwarding address in a timely manner to encourage collection and to ensure customer understanding.
