Gary Herman is the Public Information Officer 
for the City of Newton.
Herman serves as the media liaison for the City. He writes press releases, takes photographs, designs newsletters, plans special events, and provides support to all departments.
Herman began working for the City of Newton in March 2006. Prior to that, he was employed by The Taylorsville Times newspaper where he served as managing editor.
Herman is a 1993 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he majored in Business Administration. He is a 1989 graduate of Alexander Central High School.
He is the vice president of PTE at Ellendale Elementary School in Taylorsville. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons: Robbie and Charlie.
